School Ethos

The ‘ethos’ of Our Lady of Good Counsel Boys’ National School encompasses our collective attitudes, beliefs, core values, traditions, aspirations and goals. A spirit of mutual respect, equality, accountability, fairness and inclusivity is promoted within the school community. These are reflected in the actual practices which are carried out in the school on a daily, weekly, yearly basis. Pupils are taught to appreciate and respect people of different religious affiliations and of different nationalities and are led by example.

The Principal and staff aim to maintain high professional standards and create a safe and happy environment, We encourage the pursuit of excellence in all aspects of the curriculum an in the personal development of the children. We welcome and encourage parents as educational partners fostering a sense of community between management, teachers, parents and pupils.

All relations and communications between staff, pupils and parents will be characterised by a common code of courtesy and good manners. It is our wish that visitors to the school would sense, upon entering the premises, the warmth, friendship and collegiality of the whole school community.
