Nature Hero Awards

We are thrilled to share that our school has been awarded the Golden Eagle Award in the Nature Hero Awards from Biodiversity in Schools, recognising our outstanding contribution to protecting nature in our local area. Even more special, we also received a Special Recognition Award for our work managing invasive species and introducing native plants to our garden — a huge achievement that reflects months of dedication and hard work.

Throughout the year, our garden has become a thriving habitat for local wildlife. By removing invasive species and planting native flowers, shrubs, and trees, we've created a space where pollinators, birds, and small creatures can flourish. It's a wonderful reminder that even small changes can make a big difference for our environment.

None of this would have been possible without the incredible efforts of so many people in our school community.

A huge thank you to Mr Geoghegan who is the driving force behind the work in this area. To our caretaker, Mark, whose tireless work behind the scenes keeps our garden running smoothly all year round. Thank you also to our SNA, Daragh, for her constant support and enthusiasm in helping our garden grow. And of course, a massive well done to all the members of Garden Club, whose passion, curiosity, and hard work help maintain and transform our outdoor space.

Congratulations to everyone involved — these awards are a wonderful recognition of what we can achieve when we work together for nature. Here's to another year of digging, planting, and growing a greener future!
